Ask and it shall be given you. Ways to ask someone on a date. This is Dr. Paul, author of Boomer Girls: A Boomer Woman's Guide to Men and Dating and host of Ask Dr. Paul. Well, a woman can ask a man, and a man can ask a woman. And the way to do it is to do it directly, but be subtle. Don't go to someone and say, "Would you like to go on a date?" No. Have the date in mind. "I would like to have you go with me to the movie..." whatever the movie title may be. "Oh, okay. That sounds cool." "I'm going to go to this dance on Saturday evening, and I'd like to have you go with me." That's a good way. "Some girlfriends and myself are going to go to a place on the beach for the evening, and I thought you might like to go along with us." Good idea. Guy's going to go. So that's a nice way for a woman to ask a man on a date. It sets her apart. Yeah, you're going to be with me, but I've got some friends here, so they know what the story is. All of these ways are ways to ask for a date on an indirect basis with specifics in mind. If you simply open-endedly ask, "Oh, would you like to go on a date with me?" I'll guarantee you, the answer's going to be no. Have a plan where you're going. "Would you like to go to X, Y, Z restaurant? You know, I've been there once before. I liked it. I thought you might like to join me." "Oh, okay. That sounds cool." Something exotic. Something like maybe a sushi restaurant or something that's different. Maybe a new place in town, and you like to do it. But ask for a date on a specific basis. This is Dr. Paul. May your fantasies of today be your realities of tomorrow.
