"Hi I'm Gretchen Rivas with Relax to the Max Massage Therapy and today we are going to be talking about how to become a licensed massage therapist. One of the first things you want to do is to find out within your state or the state where you wish to practice in what the regulations are for that particular state. Not all states require licensure but most of them do. Most states require at least 500 hours of education plus passing some type of certified exam, usually the National Boards so you want to check in to that and you can find out the different information by going to amtamassage.org which is The American Massage Therapy Association's website. They have all the different information on all the different states and the rules and regulations required by each state on that website. They also have information on different schools available because once you figure out what you have to do you need to go to a school that is accredited and licensed to provide massage and make sure you check out the school and that you go in there and look at what they do and see what kind of classes they offer because just going in without checking it out you are not always sure what you are going to get. You want to go to a school that you do actual hands on body work on clients and on other students before you go out into the field and once you get that underway you can apply for financial aid if you need it. A lot of the schools offer it and you are on your way to becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist."
