"Hi, I'm Gretchen Rivas with Relax To The Max Massage Therapy. And today we're going to be talk about, how to give a good neck massage. When you're working with somebody on their neck, always make sure you're working with somebody that doesn't have a lot of cervical issues, and if they do, get clearance from their doctor first. But when you're working on the neck, you want to get in there and massage in there along the spine, and on each side pull up through, because the neck is full of attachments and all types of muscles that do all their work to hold the head up, and of course, because of that job, they get very tight, and very tense. Doing some nice circular motion through here feels really good, it covers all the different muscle groups on each side of the neck. And you want to work through here too, at the occipital area, because this is where everything attaches and this is where a lot of people get headaches, is in this occipital region, so if you can loosen this up on people it could make a really big difference. And on the sides through here, and the scalene area gets very stiff and tight on people. And then the other part is through here on the sterno-cleido of the mastoid muscles in the front is also helpful to massage that part too, when the person is in the thupine positioning. So you just work that area through there, do some more circular motions, do some squeezing, work that occipital area, and do that as- depending on how much they have going on in their neck, and the issues they have going on in there, you can do as much or as little as you need to in the neck area. And that's how we give a neck massage."
