"My name is Anthony Maddaloni and I'm going to talk about how to choose a digital camera. So, there are many different digital cameras on the market. There are more and more it seems like every week. The first thing you as a consumer, as a photographer want to think about, what do I want to use my camera for? Not what they are telling me I'm going to use my camera for but what do I like to do? Am I going to use my camera to go on vacation? Am I going to use my camera to take pictures of my kids? Am I going to use my camera to start a small business? These are the things you want to think about. You want to look at a couple of very important things: number 1, how many megapixels is this camera, and really do I need that many megapixels for what I'm going to do? Or maybe I really do need that many megapixels for what I'm going to do. So that is where I start telling people what you need to look at. The other things that you want to look at are certain brand names. Can I use the lenses I have with my old Nikon cameras on the new Nikon camera I'm going to buy. Can I use my Canon lenses on the new camera I'm going to buy from Canon. To me these are important decisions to make because they're going to affect you financially. You might be able to have lenses from ten years ago that you could still use. The technology is sort of catching up like that right now. But you might not be able to use those lenses. So those are just things that you want to think about when you're looking at buying a digital camera. Research is extremely important, you don't want to make a purchase on a digital camera right before maybe a new version of that camera is going to come out. You might want to wait until a new version comes out and then buy the older version because it's going to be a lot less. Or you might just decide you need the newer version for what you want to do. I like to go online, I like to ask friends, colleagues. I like to feel what the digital camera feels like in my hand, do I like the way it feels? I don't like the way this camera feels. I don't like the functions on this camera. That's one important thing to me personally, is how, the ease of a menu on a digital camera. That is how I go about buying a digital camera."
