"Hello, everyone. This is Chris Markowski, President of Markowski Investments and host of the nationally syndicated Watchdog on Wall Street radio show, here to tell you it's hard to determine when to buy and sell stocks. You know, what's that Kenny Rogers song, The Gambler, you got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them. I guess the same thing holds true with the stock market. But the reality is, no one really knows. You can watch all these talking heads parade on CNBC and, you know what? What's that old saying is well the broken clock is right twice a day. You always see them on there when they happen to be right over the past month, but they tend to disappear when they've been wrong the other eleven months out of the year. Determining when to buy and sell stock, it's an exercise in futility. What we try to teach people to do is invest for the long term. Dollar cost average, constantly putting money away on a regular basis, not trying to determine when the market's going to bottom or when the market's going to top. Because nobody, nobody in all of history has ever been able to do that. If I was able to do that, I wouldn't be here right now. I'd be like that Biff from "Back to the Future 2," with his sports almanac being able to tell the future. You can't. If you invest for the long run, you'll be just fine. Knowing when to hold them and knowing when to fold them, well you should probably consult a financial adviser about that. This is Chris Markowski, your watchdog on Wall Street."
