Video Transcript

"Hi, I'm Patti German and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist here in New York City. In this clip we are going to talk about how effective marriage counseling is. Marriage counseling is like a relationship. It's a commitment. Things don't happen overnight. It takes a little time to build it up. But if there is trust and commitment to the marriage counseling, it can be extremely effective, working with a person who is trained as a marriage and family therapist. It is different from relationship-- from individual counseling because the therapist really understands the dynamics of what happens in a relationship. So, again, marriage counseling is very effective if the commitment is there for the time that's needed to come on a weekly basis, or even twice a week, to get to the depth of what the problem is and what's in the way of a functioning relationship. This is Patti German in New York City. Thank You."
