"Hi, I'm Patti German and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist here in New York City. In this clip we're going to talk about how to deal with rude people. I think the most important thing about rude people is not to become rude yourself. If you feel somebody being rude and you want to be rude back, I think that just feeds the rudeness and then you don't like yourself for how you're treating rude people. So the best way to deal with rude people is probably to just walk away from them and not to engage. Again, I stress, rudeness is a state of mind that someone is angry about something, inconsiderate, not able to understand that other people have needs and desires and if you engage in the rudeness, then you become rude yourself and there goes the battle. So I highly stress that when you feel someone being very rude, its a time for you to become polite for yourself and walk away from the situation if you possibly can. This is Patti German in New York City."
