"Hi, my name is Stacie Royer and I'm a Career Specialist from Austin, Texas. I'm going to talk to you today about how to become a 911 Dispatcher. To be able to do this you will have to graduate from high school. You'll definitely need that diploma. But there's also a lot of other items that you'll need to pass for the particular police station that you'll be working for. You'll need to pass a background check, a criminal background check, a polygraph test, a drug test and a psychological test. You'll also need to be able to pass a CPR class because that is something that you'll probably have to walk many people through over the phone when they call in for their emergency. To be able to do this, you'll need to work well under stress or work in a stressful situation. You're going to have times when you have people call in who are very upset and you'll need to stay cool, calm and collected. You'll have to help people get through these types of emergency situations. It's a very stressful job, but it's also very rewarding. I hope you think about this whenever you become a 911 Dispatcher. And that is how you become a Dispatcher."
