Video Transcript

"Hello. My name is Luis Estrada. I'm a software developer. In this video I will show you how to create a text navigation bar in FrontPage and I will explain the different options to create links to the pages in your web site. FrontPage is a registered trademark of Microsoft, a company to which I have no affiliation. The first option creates links to all the pages at the parent level. Also, you can include a link to the home page by selecting the box. The second option creates links to all the web pages at the same level. You can additionally add links to the parent page and to the home page. The next option is very similar. Only the sibling pages are treated as previous or next. The next option adds links only to the child pages. The global option adds links to the pages that are at the same level as the home. These are pages that do not have children as well as parents. Finally, the last option adds links to the first level below the home page. These are usually our category pages. For this case let's choose the child level option. Since this is the top level page there's no benefit from adding either a parent or home page link. Press OK. Now you see links to the my friends and my hobbies categories. Go back to the navigation menu, double click on the my hobbies page, add another table of two columns and one row. We write some text in the right column. We will include another navigation bar in the left column. So again select insert and navigation; now, navigation structure. Add the same bar style and a vertical orientation. For this case lets choose the child level option and we'll add links to the home and parent pages as well. Press OK. Now, let's create a final navigation bar for the sports page, only this will be a text bar. Double click on the sports page, insert another navigation bar. This time scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll find the text options, select any. This time choose a horizontal orientation and press finish. We will add links for the siblings using the back and next option. Also, add a link to the home and parent pages. Finally, let's save all our files. Go to the folder where you stored the web site and open the index file. Now, you'll be able to navigate throughout your entire site. I'm Luis Estrada and I've just showed you how to create a multimedia website using FrontPage."
