If you look at a geographical area where you want to make sure that you are driving certain distances then you may want to find a job within a certain distance whether it be fifteen miles, twenty miles. If you are open to traveling up to thirty miles one way then you can expand your search in your area outside your immediate city. Finding a job in your area would include doing research on the internet by looking at companies that you know are located in your area. Researching those companies and going to their career sites to see what they have listed. You can look at jobs in specific zip codes by going to the internet and putting in particular types of companies you might look medical offices, and then enter your zip code. You might put law firms and enter your zip code. And you can find jobs in your area. Another way of finding jobs in your area is possibly connecting with the local employment office of your state or city. Another way is talking to your chamber of commerce. Or your better business bureau. There are many organizations, SCORE that works with more senior level individuals who would help you find a job in your area. I would encourage you to be diligent and organized in your search so you can keep documentation about the types of companies that you have applied for. Maybe actually going low tech and driving and seeing which particular companies are located right in your immediate vicinity. And then going back to the internet at that time and doing research. So finding a job in your area can be narrowed down to specific industries, universities, city, state, local government. Industries, private industries and just specific companies that you might want to work for in your area.
