"Hi, my name is Pat Goodwin with PatGoodwinAssociates.com. Today we're going to talk about how to complete a CV. The initials CV stand for curriculum vitae. You're going to want to make sure that you spell that word - those words out - at the top of your CV. You're going to have your name and your contact information in the center of the - underneath your name, which is centered, you're going to have curriculum vitae spelled out. I would encourage you to have it all caps and bold. You're going to then start talking about any special projects that you've had. Your education is first, excuse me. Your education is first, and you would want to make sure that you put all education, starting with your most recent. If you had a PhD you put that first. It's a PhD in the name the particular area of specialty, then the name of the university, city, state. A lot of people forget city, state, and the year that you received that. Then you want to have your masters or your undergraduate. If your undergraduate might date you you might can leave the name off of your undergraduate - the date off of the name of your undergraduate. Then underneath that you're going to have special projects which will be centered and bold. These are going to be accomplishments throughout your career that you are very, very proud of. Special projects could be a Fulbright scholarship, or Fulbright grant that you've actually taught out of the country, or it could be some type of recognition that the college is giving you for a particular course that you taught. A special project could be some type of volunteer work where you were actually involved in something related to your field in your city. If you are in the international marketing department you might work with the international chamber of commerce in your city. Underneath that then would be your industry experience and or business experience, so it would be industry experience slash business experience. The name of the university, which is typically a CV as for people from academic world. And then you would have the name of the university, the city, state, and the years of employment. And then you would begin to talk about what it is that you do in your job, what are you responsible for. And use the SAR methodology. Situation action result. I'm directly responsible for.... I initiated... I developed and implemented... I created... What is the situation action result? And then you would go down your professional career and on the second page you would have your technical skills. You would have any publications, speaking engagements, you might have written a book, what is it that you want to say to complete the CV based on your entire academic career? Those are the basic components of a CV, you can go online and look up curriculum vitae to get samples and examples, and hopefully this has helped you to complete a curriculum vitae."
