"Hi. My name is Jessica Claire and I'm a dating coach for New York Dating Coach and we're here in New York City. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to make that first phone call. Now, I hear from men all the time that they don't like talking on the phone, especially with women. And, I hear from women all the time that their man won't talk to them on the phone. They hang up quickly or they're awkward. Now, the best way to avoid this situation all together is to make sure your phone calls are short and sweet and they're all about data, they're not about emotion. Generally, women prefer to talk about emotion, how they feel about things, what they liked about something. Whereas, men like to give facts, this team won, this was the score or this is how it went down. So, keep it to the data. "Hi, Janie, this is Todd. I'm calling you to find out when we're doing this." "I'm in a hurry, I can't talk long." Those are the kinds of things you can say to keep your phone conversation really short. And don't be afraid, don't psych yourself out. If you have to leave a message, don't say anything in the message. Just say, "this is Todd, call me back." That way, she's forced to make the first phone call also. Last, but not least, don't be afraid to use the text message. If you're meeting someone, text them your directions. The only time you should ever really call them is when you're on the way as a polite gesture to let them know that you're still coming. Last, but not least, alway end the conversation sweetly, like, "it was great to talk to you. I look forward to seeing you," and hang up. Never a long pause, never an awkward moment. This is Jessica Claire with New York Dating Coach and this has been how to make that first phone call."
