"Do you have a canker sore right sitting on top of your braces? Well my name is Michelle and I'm a dental assistant with Solutionz and I'm going to show you on how you can care for your canker sore when you have braces. Although it can be very painful what you want to do is you want to purchase what we call like Ora Gel. This is a numbing gel that you can place on your canker sore and then that will kind of keep that area really good and numb for about twenty to thirty minutes and this is something that you can do consistently throughout the day. Also too if you are wearing braces nine times out of ten your orthodontist has given you what we call orthodontic wax. What it looks like is it is dental wax that pretty much looks like this. It comes in strips in little rows. What you would want to do is you would tear off a piece of the wax, roll it up into a little tiny ball and you might, sometimes the wax is not as pliable but if you keep playing with it the warmth of your fingers will start to make it pliable and then you roll it up into a tiny little ball. You would actually place it on your bracket, press very firm on to the bracket and then it looks like this. What this does is the wax actually acts as a band aid to your canker sore and it is going to prevent your canker sore from rubbing up against your bracket and irritating it even more. So this is a great option. With using the Ora Gel placing that on the canker sore and around your gums and then placing the wax on your bracket for a little band aid protection there so it won't irritate the canker sore any more. Once again my name is Michelle and I am a dental assistant with Solutionz and I just showed you on how to care for a canker sore when you have braces."
