"Did you know massage therapy has been around since 2500 BC. I'm Sundae with naturalsundae.com and I'm going to give you the history of Holistic Massage. The practice of using natural touch as a way to heal the body as a whole, which means mind, body and spirit is, has its roots in ancient civilization throughout the world. And as early as 2500 BC, countries like India, China, Japan, Rome and Greece all use their own philosophies and methods of using touch as a way to re-balance and re-harmonize our bodies as well as the environment with which they lived. Now later on in Europe, massage did surface but, it was quickly replaced with medical technology and pharmacology and this quickly re-established a new foundation for the medical community. And therefore, the natural healing methods of the past felt fell to the wayside. Although during the 19th century in Europe, massage did begin to emerge again. Now in early part of the 20th century in the United States, massage was fairly popular, but it was still seen as a luxury for the rich or an indulgence for the indecent. But in the latter half of the 20th century, a new interest in the natural healing as a way to heal our bodies has really revitalize the massage therapy industry. And because of this, industry standards and licensure and education have emerged. And now massage therapy enjoys a very respectable place in the natural healing community.
