"Hi, I'm Julia Almaguer, Marketing Manager here at the Austin Children's Museum. We're located in downtown Austin, at the corner of Second and Colorado. We're a nonprofit organization here, and our mission is to really equip and inspire the next generation of creative problem solvers. And how do we do that? Through our hands-on exhibits and programs that you can find within these walls. So soon as you enter, is a child-sized version of one of our Capital Metro buses. Kids love it, so immediately as you walk in, even before you're paying your admission, kids are already bolting for this bus. Any day you come is a different experience; we have every hour, either a story time or a discovery time, which is science-based tabletop activity that reinforces one of the learning concepts within our feature exhibits. Other programs we have here at the Children's Museum range from seasonal gingerbread workshops, where you can actually build a gingerbread house with real gingerbread, we have birthday parties here, spring break and summer camps, and we also have a school tour program, here for central Texas educators. We also have a Museum Store here. It's your downtown toy store and all, it's a nonprofit store, so all the profits go back directly to supporting the work of the Austin Children's Museum. So be sure and visit before you head out of the day. Here you can kind of get an overview of where our feature exhibit would be placed. Right now, our exhibit guys are moving out one that was about nano technology. We're getting ready to bring in one about sound. It's called Play It By Ear, and it'll be here from January 19, 2008 through September 14, 2008. And that's about sound, how sound is created, how we receive sound, how we hear. Several sound art sculptures that are interactive; you can just experiment with and create your own sound art. It's going to be a really exciting and fun one for us. So, it'll be in this space."
