"Hi I'm Jason former Mac genius and today I'm going to show you a quick and easy way to make a disk image. Which is also good for backing up your system, and it's Macintosh's native kind of compression packaging for files. And what we're going to do is we're going to start off with disk utility. So let's go into our hard drive, because disk utility is not actually in your dock when you start out. So you need to add it to your dock. But I'm going to make this easy to navigate. We're going to go into our applications, scroll down into our utilities, and go to disk utility, and we're going to launch that. If you want to drag something to your dock, what you can do is if you drag the excel application to your dock it'll make a space for it down here. And if you want to take it out of your dock, you just drag it up and hold it like that, and it will delete. So we're going to launch this by not dragging it into our dock. And then we're going to go down here, click and hold on it, and say keep in dock so we can access this in the future. So up here where we do all of the on board Macintosh kind of first aide, erase, rate and restore, repair your permissions and stuff. What we're going to do is we're going to click so there's nothing selected, and we're going to click on the add image link up here. And then what that does is it's going to make a new disk image, so we're going to name this new disk image. And you can allocate the size that you want this disk image to be, or it's also proportionate to the media you want as well. So we're going to say five hundred megabytes. Encryption, you can encrypt this if you wish So you also have sparse disk image here, which you can utilize to reinstall your system if you've saved your system through a different creating through disk image. I'm going to save this, and I'm just going to save this on the desktop. And a quick way to get to the desktop is also to hit command D on the keyboard. You can see this change to desktop right there, and there's a little command D signal. Symbol, sorry. And so we're going to create the new disk image, and because we encrypted it, it's going to ask for a password and to verify the password. And that's your system admin password that you created. And it's saying this because we didn't put it in an admin password. So I'm Jason former Mac genius and that's how you build a disk image in OS ten. Talk to you next time."
