One of the easiest things you can do to speed up your computer is to improve its memory. Hi, I'm Charles Steward Jr., I'm going to show you how to improve your computer's memory. First thing you want to do is find out what type of computer you have and this one, is one I have built a year so ago and you probably own like a HP or a Dell or something of that sort. So what you want to do is if you own one, you can easily, when you build it, you look at your motherboard, you can go to your motherboard's manufacturing website, like if you have and Aces or ACS, you can go to their website and look up the model no. of your motherboard and it should tell you what kind of RAM that's suppose to go with that motherboard. Likewise, if you have a Dell or an HP or such, you can go to their website and then you can look up the model of your computer and then in this port section, and it'll show you what kind of RAM is, your computer can handle. So for the sake of everything, let's just say you figured out your model no. and what kind of RAM you're going to need. And there's many places you can order it from online, Newegg is a good place, newegg.com. So you, so you've got your RAM right here, and you're ready to go. So, first thing you're going to do is on the back of the case, you're going to find the screws it will take off the door. Some cases, you don't have to do that. You just push the button and it'll come off. So, for the sake of demonstration, I've taken all the screws out and I just got one left on here to speed it up. So once this is off, I'll just pop this door off and then you'll see the insides of your computer. Alright, here we go. RAM should be easy to locate because once you look at, you'll see something big with a fan on, it usually, and that's what your CPU is going to be, the actual brain of the computer. And then you'll come over and you should see a series of slots, there's usually three to four in there, and you should already, if you have the computer running and working, it should already have a RAM stick, at least one if not, there might be more. You want to make sure you've got an open slot there, 'cause your computer when you bought it, might have filled it all the way up. So you, you probably want to open up and check it out before you actually buy the RAM to make sure you're not wasting your money. So you go look and you see there's several slots there available, I've got two in this computer and you're just going to take it. Now, when you look at the RAM, and one thing also on a side note, you want to be careful of is, whenever you're dealing with any electronic components is you want to make sure you're grounded to something. And what I mean by that is you don't want static, like static electricity hitting this same like when we touch a door knob and it sparks, you might, you know, you'll shorted out and destroy your RAM and it's no good. So you'll take this and then you'll see a little place for it where it lines up 'cause it's designed to only go in one way because there's a little grove in there that lets you line it up. So then you just line it up, then once it's seated in and you know it's line up, all you got to do is give it a little push and the two tabs on the side should click in. And that's also when you go to put it in, you want to make sure those are pushed out. So when you push in you'll hear them click, just make sure they're down and then you should be, once you put everything back together, you crack up the computer, usually when it starts up, it will say how much RAM, but when your computer is back on, you can go look, you can look at my computer, right click on that, look at properties and right there it should show you how much RAM's in your computer and you'll know if your RAM took. But if you follow the specifications, it should have. That's how to upgrade the RAM in your computer.
