"Hi, my name is Jill Weiss, and I'm going to show you a few drills, a few tips on ball control. For young athletes just starting out, you don't want to focus too much on all the specific details of soccer. Ball control, that's a huge thing, with soccer, obviously. A good drill to start, would be just practicing juggling, almost. Starting out maybe with one bounce, and then using the top of your foot, and then catching it, to yourself. Just doing this, you can switch feet. Obviously, athletes, young kids that are more confident. They already know how to use their thigh, and their head, and things like that, and their chest. You can do this by yourself, or you can do a partner kind of thing. You can also do a ladder kind of drill, where you start with one, and then you go to two. One, one, two, one, two, three, things like that. With a partner, you can bounce it to them, and they can try and control it, and then catch it to themselves, things like that. Also, ball control, just trying to keep it to themselves. In and out, cone drills, things like that. Once the kids get more confident, you can introduce using the legs, and using the head, things like that, but those are just some basic good drills, to start out with teaching ball control."
