"Having your overweight cat lose some weight is a two fold process. Again, you want to control the amount of calories that your cat is taking in and increase the amount of calories that your cat is burning. So if you feed your cat free feed, and that means that you leave food out for your cat all day long, that's probably not going to be a great way to control his weight. So switching from free feed to feeding your cat meals is a really easy way to control how much your cat eats and to help your cat to lose weight. So you'd want to feed just a small amount of food, like the amount of food that's in this, the dry section of this dish at breakfast and at supper time. Or you may want to wait until just before you go to bed because overweight cats who have no food in their dish often develop this habit of waking you up at three o'clock in the morning crying for more food. So if you put food down just before bedtime, that will have the food last through the night so you can get your night sleep. Your cat will be happy crunching through the evening when it's active, and you still won't be overfeeding. The second thing you want to do is increase your cat's activity and exercise. So you use a little bouncy toy like this, use little squeaky toys that will get their attention that they'll play with, and other methods of getting them more active so that they can burn more calories and lose weight."
