"There's a whole category of large Connecticut wall clocks or wall regulators that are rare and expensive but they're wonderful to own. And when you get into the higher levels of collecting you really want to have some fine rare clocks in your collection, depending on how much wall space you have, should be some of these early large Connecticut wall clocks. This happens to be a Seth Thomas number 7. These clocks again are quite rare. I was lucky enough to have one recently. Sold it for around $14,000. So when they're in good condition that's what they bring. They were made by Seth Thomas but also made by the other large companies we talked about as well. Gilbert, Waterbury, Ingram, all those companies made these big regulators because they were competing with each other. These were rarely used in home settings although mostly collectors now have them in their homes. But you need to keep in mind that back in the 1880's 1890's nobody would have had a clock this big just hanging on their living room wall like you may see now in a collectors house. You would have just seen them in post offices, banks, lawyers offices, places where you needed to be able to see the time from far away. As I mentioned they're desirable, people want them in their collections. You can see this very clock on the cover of a recent auction catalog. It shows again this very model that was sold at this auction as well. So, desirable. We'll talk about this auction company coming up soon."
