"Hi, I'm Les Whitley. I'd like to take a moment and talk to you about how to buy a gym membership. There are a lot of don'ts, and a few do's, in moving forward with this process. The first thing is take some time. Make some phone calls, but more importantly, do some personal visits. Actually go to the gyms, that you're thinking about joining, and ask for a trial membership, of either a one day, or actually if you can, for a week or more. Spend some time, check out the facilities themselves, the type of equipment, and see if it meets your needs. Also, look for qualified professionals, that are there to help you out, in case you have questions, or need assistance with particular equipment, or designing a proper program. The other thing, is check out their locker room facilities. You'll find that if those spend time in detail, and keeping the restroom facilities clean. They're going to take pride in taking care of the rest, of not only the facility, but taking care of their members as well. A couple of things to be aware of. Listen to the members. Ask members questions. What they think about the gym, and how their experiences have been. Also too, the sales process. It should never be something that you feel like you're going to get lead in the wrong direction, or mislead about. Long term commitments and long term contracts, unless the gym has a great reputation, and the price ends up being really good. It may not help you reach your goals. Take time. Do research, and again, look for shorter term commitments, or opt out clauses within there, that don't bind you to a long term agreement. If something goes wrong, you want to be able to make a change. Whether it's on their part, or on yours, if you move or change addresses, or it no longer becomes convenient. You need to make sure that you have the opportunity, to end that gym membership, when it's convenient for you. Look for long term success,and plan to reach your goals, but have the right facility, to help you meet your needs."
