"Hi, I'm Les Whitley. I'd like to talk to you right now about how to strengthen your midsection or your abdominals. In doing so, you really want to think about the movements that you're incorporating as part of your overall healthy active routine. The exercises should include, muscles for the upper body, as well as lower body, in addition to the core, as that's what links things together. The muscles of the core, the abdominals, lower back, and obliques, are part of your overall body, and they should be trained as such. To add isolation exercises, for example, for a bicep, without training muscles of your lower body, will limit the results you see. So with doing specific abdominal exercises and not focusing on the rest of your body, will limit the results of those abdominal exercises as well. Specific exercises such as the crunch, the sit up, the rotational medicine ball throw, will help you achieve a nice strong core, it's part of an overall routine to achieve a good, healthy, toned look to the midsection as well. Diet plays an important part in reducing the body fat that covers those abdominal muscles. So take time, pay attention to the foods that you're eating. Eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day, emphasizing fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean sources of protein, minimizing the sugar intake, as well as lower in fat. Take time, be consistent, as far as your routines, as well as your dietary intake to achieve maximum results."
