"Hi I'm Les Whitley. I'd like to talk to you right now about different abdominal exercises that you can do to target the lower area of the abdominals. One particular exercise that we found to be quite effective in training not only the lower sections of the abdominals but the overall abdominal musculature as well is the lower leg raise. Begin by using a bar that's across, hands roughly shoulder's width, knees will bend up at ninety degrees, tucking the hips as well as bringing the knees up. To use that lower section of the abdominals to elevate the hips. The knees in and of themselves really play a small factor in there as the straighter your legs are the more resistance to tilt those hips are. Progression of exercises maybe bring the knees in to start, trying to stabilize the body, gradually working on bringing the knees higher to eventually bringing the knees up in a straight leg position. The straight leg position puts a lot of stress on the abdominal musculature as well as the overall core, which trains your grip as well by hanging on to the bar. Ideally getting the legs to that they can come all the way up and down under control in a gymnastic move will put a lot of stress to stimulate the growth of those lower abdominals and keep them nice and toned."
