"Hi, my name's Dave Andrews, today I'm going to talk to you about how does a laptop work. Now let's look at a laptop here, and as you can see it has sort of a swivel screen that will allow you to close the screen on the laptop, and if I shut it completely it will snap together and the computer will go into sleep mode which allows us to save a little bit of battery time on a laptop. I'm going to show you some of the differences between a laptop and a normal computer. As you can see a laptop here has sort of a charger type of plug, which is different than a normal computer which would stay plugged in all the time. This is a little more like you would kind of charge a, I don't know, a phone or something, and the purpose of this is to charge your laptop's battery when you're not using it mobily. I'm just going to plug that back in here. The next thing I'm going to show you that's different from normal is this little touch pad. It's on the front of the laptop. Now, you're probably used to interacting with a mouse on a computer, but this touch pad has actually allows you to take your finger and just rub it across the surface of the touch pad and that's moving the mouse on the screen. I've also got two little buttons here. This one will do a normal click on a mouse when I hit it, and this one here will do a right click when I press it. This particular touch pad also has a scroll area which would do scrolling on a web page. Another thing to look at for how laptops works is they have a row of buttons, many modern ones, have a row of buttons on the top here that allow you to control other functions on the laptop. For instance this button right here will, if I press it, it will turn orange, and that means I just muted the sound. I press it again it's blue again. I can also control my sound volume just by touching those buttons. Next to it on this particular one are some media controls that you'll see on a lot of newer laptops that control playing DVD's and what not. My name's Dave Andrews and I've just told you about how laptops work."
