"Ingrown hairs are those that don't grow normally through the hair follicle, but instead become stuck and cause irritation. I'm Jackie with how to deal with ingrown facial hair. Ingrown hairs can become quite painful and will sometimes resemble a boil. Check with your doctor if you suspect you have an infection. If it is indeed an ingrown hair, and not just a pimple, you should be able to actually see the hair underneath the skin surface. Make a hot compress by dipping a washcloth in very warm water and applying it to the spot. This will reduce the swelling and soften the area around the ingrown hair. Once it opens up, you can use a sterilize tweezer to coax the ingrown hair out. Be sure to wipe off the tweezer with alcohol before trying this. Wash your face with a mild soap and warm water after removing the hair and keep the area clean to avoid infection. Using an electric shaver has been shown to decrease the occurrence of ingrown hairs. Remember to deal with ingrown facial hair, use a hot compress to soften the skin. Coax the hair loose with a sterile tweezer and try an electric shaver to keep them from coming back.
