Summary: Caring for African dwarf frogs is easy as long as no other animals can eat them. Care for African dwarf frogs with these expert tips from a reptile specialist in this free video about pet care.
"Hi, my name's Tim Cole. I'm with the Austin Reptile Service. I've been keeping reptiles and amphibians for over forty years. And we're here to talk about dwarf African clawed frogs. These are fairly common in stores that sell fish. They don't get very large. They average about an inch or so. And you do set them up in an aquarium. They will get along with some fish. If the fish are too big, of course, they might eat the frog. But most fish are going to be too big for the frog to eat. And they get along pretty well, as long as they've got some places to hide. Some plants in the cage would be a good idea. They do feed on turtle pellets if they're small enough. They will also feed on flake food that you would normally feed fish. So for that reason they do okay in a fish tank. You also want to check the ph of the water, make sure it's not too high or to low. That can be detrimental, just like it would be for fish."
