"Hi, I'm Hunter from the Austin Aqua Dome. Changing some of the water in your aquarium is an important task that should be done at least monthly to semi-monthly. After you've drained a half of the water out of the tank with your siphon hose, you want to use a good brand of dechlorinator, that takes out both, chlorine and chloramines. Add the recommended of drops per gallon, and then fill the tank back up with tap water. For salt water tanks, you want to have a bucket or a trash can that you use just for the purpose of mixing up new salt water. Get the water in the bucket to the concentration and salinity of the water that's in the tank. After you drained the salt water down, refill it with the water that you've mixed up in the bucket. Either way, it's a good idea to test the water that you're adding in to make sure that it's about the same temperature of the water that's in the tank."
