"You know, across the nation, one of the items that seems to be in short supply is blood and blood products. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni, and what I'm going to talk about is how to donate plasma for profit. There are over four hundred plasma centers across the United States. You can check with the local yellow pages or local colleges to determine where the plasma centers are where you can take and donate plasma or donate plasma for money. A trip to the plasma center will take a couple of hours the first time. They will have to do a medical screening to determine whether you are a candidate or at risk for HIV, depending on lifestyle. They'll also want to know if you've received any tattoos or piercings in the last twelve months. After a medical screening and drug screening is completed they will normally have you lie down, and place a needle in the vein, draw out the blood, and then run it through a machine to separate the red blood cells from the plasma, and then the red blood cells will be placed back into the body. If you plan on donating blood or plasma, please ensure that you drink plenty of water, and eat at least an hour prior to the donation. I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Stay safe, and we'll see you next time."
