"You know one of the common insect bites that is not only hard to distinguish what type of insect has bit you, but also how to treat this type of insect bite is the common chigger bite. Hi, I'm Captain Joe Bruni. And what I'm going to discuss is how to medically treat the common chigger bite. Chigger bites will many times will manifest themselves around the abdominal area of the body where chiggers like to congregate and bite. The area must be kept clean and dry so there's no chance of secondary infection developing. Some type of hydra-cortisone cream can be used, or there are commercially made chigger type of products to treat the chigger bite area. And reduce not only swelling, but also itching. Keep in mind that if the area is scratched, because intense itching will follow chigger bites, the area is going to weep and remain damp and the possibility of secondary infection may develop. The key is not to scratch the area, but seek medical help with hydra-cortisone cream or some type of commercial chigger product available for application. Keep the area dry and clean as possible to avoid any type of secondary infection. I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Stay safe. And we'll see you next time."
