Summary: Setting up MIDI data and recorded data is a regular necessity when editing music in Pro Tools. Set up MIDI tracks and data in Pro Tools with the click of a mouse as an experienced music producer shows you how in this free video.
"In order for your midi to work, you got to make sure that all your components are hooked up right. Midi data works through midi chords. What you got do do, is actually take your key board. And make sure that the out of your keyboard is going into the end, of whatever your interface is. If you have DGO2 or MBox or some type of midi, midi port. You've go to make sure that your key board and your midi port have the ends, have midi chords coming in and out of it. So the out from the key board is going to the end of the interface. And the out from the interface, is going to the end of the keyboard. Once this is all set, you still have to go within Pro-Tools and open up the 'edit midi studio setup'. Once this, midi studio setup is open. What you've got to do, is you go to create a device. And make sure that device is going into your computer. Right now, it's tried and hooked to my output of my 1 and my input, is 1. So the midi I O, that I have has up to ten inputs and outputs. So what I'm going to do on this new device. This new device, maybe this is my MPC. So on my MPC, what I'm going to do, is make sure that the out from my midi port. Goes into in, of my MPC and the out of the MPC goes into the input of midi port. Once this is all set, I'll be able to choose this option within my midi data. So once I go out to choose my output. I know that I can just send it out to my MPC through any of these channels. 16 channels into my MPC. Or any of th e16 channels withing my TriM. And if I want to find a new instrument like a Multif. I just had a new instrument and I can send it to any of the 16 channels withing that instrument, as well."
