Summary: Stay upwind when using acid removers on speed boats so the fumes aren't inhaled. Remove hard water spots on a speed boat by using acid removers with tips from a car wash owner in this free video on speed boat detailing.
"Now we're going to take the hose at this point. We're going to rinse all this off. And then, simultaneously as we do that, I'm going to take my hard water remover. Now this water spot remover is professional. This is an acid. It is dangerous. We use gloves when we use it. Make sure we have our safety glasses on. And we simply just coat the boat in it. And I don't like to breathe the fumes so I try to stay upwind of the fumes so the wind is blowing this way a little bit. I'd spray from this direction and the fumes that I'm not getting are moving this way. So I'm covering that. I can cover the chrome, I can cover the trim. Everywhere the water goes I'm going to put a coating of that on. I'm going to let that work for a minute. We want this on a wet product. We don't want it on a hot day where the sun is beating down. So what we'll do is immediately dry the acid right onto the boat before it has the ability to cleanse. Now we're going to come over with a little bit of elbow grease, a clean towel, and we're just going to start wiping that again right back and forth like this. Cleaning the boat. And that's just going to be lifting the water spots right off. Now, if you don't have water spot remover, you can buy some at a boat shop or a company like Bud Cup, professional detail shop. If you're trying to use what you have around the house, one thing that does work well in this area, it's not as easy as what we're using here, but vinegar, either light vinegar, you know, any vinegar really will work. You can put it in a spray bottle and do exactly what I told you. I don't like the smell of it, but and indefinitely we want to have gloves on when we do that, but vinegar will do that as well, And you just work across the boat. With that, once you've wiped it back down, wiped that off, rinse it again to flow the acid off as well, get the hard water spots, we got a clean, shiny segment of the boat. We're just going to work around the entire boat, but now probably doing the same thing we just did."
