Of course, sometimes as a makeup artist I encounter problems on the skin, such as bruises, scratches, veins or acne scars. But there is a few tricks of the trade that can really help minimize the appearance of such issues. As a makeup artist I've had great experiences with concealers that are creamy and a little bit cakey, because we are dealing with more problematic issues. In this case, I love this color wheel, because I can pretty much mix the shades to really match to my client's skin. And remember, we're not only dealing with the face. Often there might be a bruise on the chest or arm area; whatever is exposed. A good trick to cover up bruises is actually to use a mauve lipstick and then finish it up with a little bit of your foundation and a dusting of translucent powder. The sort of peachiness of the lipstick counter balances the blueness of the bruise. To cover up a blemish, you want to start right on the blemish with a light sort of dab of a creamy, cakey concealer. And then you want to blend out the edges with a little sponge or a cream brush, so you're not adding more product. Really try to blend as precisely as possible. You also really want to make sure that the concealer matches. The color of the concealer matches. To finish, just take a little bit of powder and set the concealer onto the face. Almost undetectable.
