"Potty training your dog is a relatively simple activity. It requires commitment on your part, and consistency. If you can capture every time your dog has to go to the bathroom by knowing their schedule; they tend to need to go outside a an hour after they eat, or when they first wake up in the morning, or last thing before they go to bed, and you can get them outside every time and not have any accidents in the house it'll be something that happens fairly quickly. This is a good opportunity to use a management tool like a crate. You take your dog outside to go to the bathroom. Your dog doesn't choose to go to the bathroom at that opportunity. Then, you can find your dog capitalizing on their natural instinct to be clean which most dogs have, and then taking them back out in ten minutes or so; giving em' another opportunity. So, they're not going to want to urinate in their cage, so you confine them to their cage because they didn't go potty which sends a message to them as well that I didn't go to the bathroom at this opportunity. I don't have freedom in the house. I go back outside, I I go to the bathroom this time, and my reward is I get to come in and run around in the house. The biggest mistake most of us make is assuming our dogs are ready before they are. They have a couple of opportunities that we've missed where they get a chance to go to the bathroom, and then they choose to go to the bathroom in the house, and now they're confused. So, be committed to take care of this, and make sure your dog gets out every opportunity that they could possibly have to go to the bathroom. If they don't choose that opportunity then be consistent. Put the dog in the cage, confine them until you get another opportunity to take them out to go to the bathroom. If you catch it every time you will quickly teach your dog that the house is not a proper place to use the bathroom."
