"I'm Nancy Frensley. I'm the training manager at the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society, in Berkeley, California, and I've been asked why do dogs chase their tails. So, I'm going to have my friend Lolly here try to answer that question for you. Can you tell me why do dogs chase their tails? Now, Lolly has a problem, come, come here. She doesn't have one. So, I guess that she really, really can't answer that question. So, why do dogs chase their tails? Well, I think the main reason is because they can, but the thing that probably causes them to chase their tails is they see it moving and it looks like a toy, and then it looks like fun and they start trying to catch it, and before long they're going in, come on, they're going in circles, and circles, and circles and chasing their tails. Now, all dogs will not chase their tails. Only some dogs will do it. So, why do dogs chase their tails? Because it's there."
