"Hi, I'm Nancy Frensley. I'm with the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society. I'm the training manager in Berkeley, California. I've been asked how to adopt a Maltese dog. Well, one of the best ways to adopt a Maltese dog is to find one through a Maltese rescue organization. Rescue organizations for breeds, or what what are called breed rescue are often put together by breed clubs. They want to take specimens of their breed out of shelters and humane societies, and put them in foster homes and adopt them out themselves, because they really know best how to take care of that particular kind of dog. So, if you want to adopt a Maltese dog go through a rescue organization. If you go to Google, and Google in Maltese dog rescue you'll find a lot of them. In case you don't know what a Maltese dog is Maltese are small white toy dogs. They're extremely cute, very fluffy, and by the way need a lot of grooming, so don't get a Maltese if you don't plan to groom. But they're quite versatile little dogs. I've seen them in everything from agility to obedience, and they just have a really good time. So, they're a great little dog that you can get through a breed rescue."
