"Hi, my name is Dr. Kim Makoi. I'm a holistic chiropractor from San Francisco and this is what is Restless Leg Syndrome? Restless Leg Syndrome is not an actual disease process. Rather it is a name given to a very common set of symptoms that a lot of people, more males than females usually experience. And these symptoms include involuntary twitching or contracting or kicking of the legs which becomes most problematic at night to the unfortunate bed mate who is on the receiving end of the kicks. So, there's no single way for eliminating Restless Leg Syndrome. The most common approaches that seem to help it and diminish the symptoms usually include a combination of magnesium supplementation. Sometimes homeopathic formulas which help to decrease stress. Sometimes herbal formulas which often have something like valerian root in them, which again help to relax the body, decrease stress. And people with restless legs are encouraged to avoid stimulants during the day. Particularly coffee, colas, energy drinks, even allergy medicines often have stimulant ingredients. And that is what Restless Leg Syndrome is."
