"My name is Lauren and today I am here to discuss hair wrapping techniques. In order to do a hair wrap one of the first things that you are going to want to do is put a braid in the hair like so. Usually it is a smaller section so about the size of a paper clip or a small paper clip. You are going to braid it all the way down to the end and then you are going to put an elastic there. Now a good rule of thumb is the larger the wrap you want the larger the braid you do because essentially this is what it is going to be wrapped around. You are then going to get some embroidery floss which I just find it works best but any type of string would basically pretty much work or like yarn. You are going to cut them. You are going to cut four pieces if you are doing two colors, six pieces if you are doing three colors. You are going to make sure that they are at least double the length of what the actual braid is. Once you get to this point and you have your embroidery floss all ready you are going to take it, bring it up to the top of your braid and then you are going to secure it there so that way you can work. As the knot gets smaller you are going to want to make sure you really focus it up on the top. What the braid is going to do is it is going to prevent your hair from slipping. If you just try to wrap hair like this it won't have any sort of friction in order for it to not fall out so the braid actually essentially helps the wrap stay in. After you get your original knot in you are then going to pick up two of the pieces of yarn or floss. You are going to then take it, hold the remaining string plus the braid and you are going to wrap it around. You are going to make sure that it is a very tight wrap. Each time you go and wrap it use your fingers to reinforce the wrap and it staying there. If it makes it easier for you can take the hair that is surrounding it and get rid of it in order to just kind of use pins or something to hold it back so that way it doesn't get in your way. When you want to switch your colors, you are then going to lay the two pieces that you originally picked up down and grab two other pieces. You are then going to start wrapping over that last pink area because that one is going to fall down a little bit because now you are pulling it down and you are going to continue this all the way down the hair shaft and again the braid is going to help you secure the wrap. If you wanted to use any sort of bead or any sort of charm you could simply place the charm or bead on to the string and then secure it up on top if you wanted to add a little something. Once you get down to the bottom you are going to remove the elastic, continue if you want to go a little bit further than what the hair is and then you are going to secure it with a double knot. That will help the wrap stay in and it will help the wrap stay and that is how you wrap hair."
