Let's talk about what can kittens eat. When kittens are newborn they are going to be nursing from their mother or queen. Sometimes if they are orphaned you have to use something like a kitten milk replacer to help them nurse. When they hit about four weeks of age is when they start eating typically solids, gruel that is which can be done with milk and with dry food, that is kind of softened with milk or water. As they hit about five to six weeks of age they are going to be eating more solids and can be on regular kitten food or growth formula food, dry or canned and from then on that is generally how they are fed until they are about 12 months of age or a year. So kittens tend to start off nursing obviously. They all start off nursing and they work their way up to solids up to about four to five weeks of age and go from there. Trying to feed cats or kittens too early can lead to digestive problems. You never want to try to feed cats anything that they are not supposed to eat especially when they are young. You don't want to feed them table scraps or anything like that, that creates issues for them both digestively and behaviorally and so check with your veterinary clinic as far as proper nutrition is concerned and when to start that but there are a lot of products and a lot of companies that provide growth formulas or kitten formula foods.
