"Hi, my name is Pat Goodwin with Pat Goodwin Associates and today we're going to visit a moment about what is the best way to find great employees. When I think about that question, first of all, three things come to mind. What are the skills for the job? Can they do the job? Are they willing to do the job? And how would they fit in an organization? Typically companies look at what do we need this person to do? What do we need this person to do? A great employee is someone that can do the job, will the do the job and is an excellent fit inside the organization. So how do you find great employees? You can do the typical ways of advertising in newspapers, advertising in trade journals, advertising at trade shows or having a career fair or networking in your community by actually going out and speaking to different organizations about the positions that you're looking to fill. I think it's a great motto that you're looking to hire great employees. Great employees are people that come in with a positive attitude. They come in with a skill set; that they feel like that they can bring value to the organization; that they're willing to learn. It's a life-long learning process for them; that they're willing to jump in and help wherever it's needed. Their attitude is not going to prevent them from doing some thing that could be helpful when they feel like "that's not my job". And so as you build a team and you look at what are the core competencies of each person on the team and the value that they bring, then you are building and growing great employees. Great employees like to be recognized. Everyone feels worthy but they like to be recognized and know that they're worthy. So having spot of words, having motivational meetings with the company to let the employees, to let them know how well they're doing. Having some benchmarks, send some goal set to continue to empower your employees to be better and better at their job. Allowing them some flexibility on arriving or leaving at time, at work. Maybe putting in some benefits that would help them with daycare. So how do you build a company of great employees? First of all you got to look at, what is their skill set? Can they do the job? Are they willing to do the job? And what is your culture? What type of fit do you look like or you look for inside your company? And then that's one way of finding and building and creating great employees. Thank you."
