"The concept of an Envelope is a concept that is cross platform and that every program has it when dealing with sampling. I'm going to describe to you and show you how Envelope works with something else, so that you really get the concept of what it does. I'm going to open up another, the Citrus Generator and bring it to the default sound. So, it's just that. Automatically, you can see the Envelope here. That's what that is. And, see this has the volume selection on. So, that when I change the Envelope it's going to change the properties of how the sound works. Now, the Envelope is off. So, it just turns the sound on. That's what the button does. We turn on the Envelope, suddenly it sounds like this. That soft pitch thing you heard happening is just turning on. It's a lot different from just turn on. Also, if you change the attack like that and you bring down the sustain you notice that its sounds a lot like you just hit it. Already, you have the beginnings of a classic bell sound. If you let the release come out, you have your own built in echo. That's the kind of stuff you can do with Envelopes. And, that's why you need to remember that. So, that when you work with it you really understand the power of the Envelope."
