"Magic cards are purchased in either deck form or pack form. A deck comes in either assorted tournament packs or pre-constructed decks that have a theme and a pattern in their cards. The packs are either core set or expansion set, the expansion sets are slightly more complicated. These have fifteen and these have seventy-five. Using these cards decks are constructed, every player needs a deck to play. At the beginning of the game, the decks are shuffled so that they're sufficiently randomized. Then once everyone has shuffled their decks, a starting player is selected using random method, usually a die or a coin flip. But any random method that the players can agree on is acceptable. Once this is started you're ready to try your starting hands. A starting hand consists of seven cards drawn from the top of your deck, which at the beginning of the game becomes what is called your library."
