"Okay, so going from the swivel placement at the bottom of the nylon line, for salmon and lakers, you've got the twelve foot long, fourteen pound monofilament line which comes down to your split shot and further down to your number six hook. You now want to take your bait, which is going to be a large shiner, and hook it through, again, just below the dorsal fin and below the back bone so that you don't damage any organs. Still quite alive. And then drop that down. Now for salmon, you want to fish just under the ice, maybe six to eight feet under the ice, anywhere from ten feet deep out to about fifty or sixty feet deep. For lakers, you want to go down to the very bottom, thirty or forty feet deep, and pull it just a couple of wraps up off the bottom. So lakers, you want to fish off of the bottom, salmon, just under the ice."
