For centering a pot on the wheel for doing these salad bowls we are going to get our hand wet and put it right in our sort of gut right there and that's going to be your steady point for centering. This hand is going to cup the clay. Now we're going to draw the clay up and then push it down on itself like that and then push it down. You can see it is already feeling like it is pretty good and centered. For a beginner this can take some time to get the hang of but once you have got it it is a very smooth process and you can often times center it in one of two pulls. So you are going to know when it is on center because you are going to run your fingers across the side of it like that and you are going to feel very little up and down bouncing and once you have got it on you just want to smooth it out and take one of your rib tools and just make a cut around the edge and now you are ready to get inside and start opening the pot up and we're going to do that in the next segment.
