"Today, we?re changing the power lock actuator in the rear lift gate of a ninety six Ford Explorer. In this step, I'm going to demonstrate the proper procedure for removing this skin from the door frame. Now we have one screw that was exposed when removing the cover plate on our lock button. Let me go ahead and take this screw out, right there. And drop it in the magnetic tray. What I have here in my hands is called a five way. It's actually a carpenter's tool but it works great for removing Christmas trees out of body panels. They're these little buttons right here, we're going to have to take and pop all those out. They're actually what hold the door skin to the door frame. Take and use the fork bend of it and just slip that piece underneath the Christmas tree, and pop it out. You're going to use prying action just as if it was a nail. Can you see that right there? Go ahead and work our way around and pop them all out. And, for the last one. Right there. We're going to take and slide the door skin up and off of it's hooks, just like so. Take it and sit it out of the way for later re-installation. That is the proper service procedure for removing the interior door skin from your door frame."
