"Hi my name is Jordan Dahl, we're talking about intermediate floor gymnastics. And the next skill I want to talk about was your standing back handspring. This is really similar to your back tuck in a tumbling pass. But there are some key differences, this is really considered more of a drill than a trick. It can really help you with your strength and your technique to help you on your tumbling pass. So all you want to do is start in that nice tall standing position, arms down by your side. When you're ready you bend down as if you're going to do a standing back handspring. And you swing up, you're going to jump straight up, that's one thing that really has bothered me as I learned my back tucks. Is they shouldn't be called back tucks, they should be called up tucks. This can really confused some people, because they think that a back tuck means they need to reach back, that's not the case. For right now you need to be thinking in your mind an up tuck. So you do the prep, you reach straight up, you're going to watch something on the wall. Make sure you finish that set all the way up, reach around with your arms, and again with your arms and your stomach, you'll pull your knees in. And just like a front tuck, you'll stay in the that tuck position until you hit the ground. A big, big problem that I see with this, as people are starting off, they'll reach up, they'll be fine, and as they come around they'll look down and they'll see the ground, and they'll panic. They'll open up out of their tuck, and they'll fall down on their hands and their face. That's a problem that you'll want to avoid, make sure you're staying in the tuck position until you land."
