"Hello my name is Barbara Dewitt. I'm a National Wildlife Federation Stewart with The Broward County Audubon Society. How to attract hummingbirds to your own self. One way is to wear bright colors such as red or yellow or even plants, even clothing that has leaf patterns on it. Hummingbirds will even sit on your finger, if you're right near a feeder and you put your finger up they'll perch there. Another way to attract hummingbirds is to plant the plants that they use for nectar sources. And they would be tubular plants in red or orange. Also they to attract them you would not want to use any pesticides or herbicides. You would want to have protected places so that they can perch at night and hang on and go into a torper for the cooler evening hours. Sometimes you might see a hummingbird that's on a branch that is upside down because they loosen their grip a little bit and they fall, they just are still hanging on but they fall down and their head's pointed down. Also hummingbird feeders can be used and that you can use one part sugar to four parts water, boil that and then put it in feeder, a red feeder is good to use. Put it out in your garden or somewhere you can use it and somewhere you can see it from inside."
