"Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammation of the joint themselves. It can affect finger joints, it can affect knee joints, hip joints, ankle joints, any jointed part of your body. There are three stages. First, there is inflammation of the joint, it'll become red and swollen, and very painful. The second stage is there can be an enlargement of the joint due to the synovium which is part of the joint getting larger and multiplying in cells. The third stage is a chronic end of the disease and the joint begins to break down in a can chain shape. Rheumatoid arthritis affects approximately 2 million Americans in the United States.
