"Hi, this is Nancy Minor. I'm the tribal historian with the Lipan ApacheTribe of Texas and I want to introduce our vice chairman, Robert Sotto. He would like to tell you about Apache and particularly Lipan Apache Spirituality. There was a lot of different bands in our tribe and so everything kind of very from tribe to tribal, from band to band and so sometimes what was ours wasn't necessarily somebody else's and vice versa. But as a whole our people were very spiritual people. We're taught that there was one God and there was one creator and that one, one creator created all mankind and so, as sort of growing up as children, a lot of times there were teaches that. And that we'll start off in the morning, with prayer, we end up in the night with prayer. We believe that the key was the gift giver and everything that we have and everything that we were was a gift from God, the creator. The Lipan Apaches, like a lot of the other Apache tribes we're too busy kind of running away to survive and, and so a lot of time our, our, our religious practices were not as complex as some of the other tribes. We just, we would pray short time; sometimes we'll sing a song; but because we're always walking roost, running and roost moving; we believe that everywhere we went and God, the creator was with us, with the basic belief that there is one God and there was, there is one creator and, and even today as I was growing up, my, my grandmother was kind of the holy woman or the spiritual person in our family and she passed on the spirituality by teaching us that, that the, that you know, to be spiritual people, to be praying people, to honor God with our gifts and our talents and so even in this modern society we teach our kids in the same way. I'm a pastor, pastor at Christian church but I taught a lot of people, we need to honor and glorify that one God and one creator. Well, that's a good place to start to learn about Lipan Apache spirituality; but if you have more questions, check our website Out On The Tribe. Goodbye. Danzu."

on 4/20/2009 Anytime I hear one god, I see the red flag of Christianity. All indigenous people were very spiritual but those beliefs and ideology did not translate perfectly into the colonizing people's religion. Many people who survived introduced diseases, the holocaust, and reservations, need to decolonize their heritage from the destructive forces of education. Pratt,"Kill the Indian, to save the man."
