"My name is Miranda Chook, a CPA. A CPA or a Certified Public Accountant is a designation that is given by each state and it is a requirement if you sign audit reports. Now in order to become a CPA you usually have to need certain education requirements which do vary from state to state an then you take a pass the uniform CPA exam that is given in all the states and finally most states also have a work requirement before you actually receive your full CPA designation. Although the work requirements do vary from state to state in general what they require is that a certain number of hours are spent in certain areas such as audit of inventories or accrued liabilities and receivables and that they are signed off by a supervisor. These are examples of the types of work requirements that are usually going to be found in each state before you actually become certified but for more information about the specifics in your state contact your state state board of accountancy."
