"What is a Visa? A Visa is a travel document which gives a person permission to enter a specific country and stay there for a certain amount of time. There are two really good websites that you need to go to to find out more information about getting a Visa. One is travel.state.gov/visa. Another is unitedstatevisas.com. Going to those websites is going to give you the entry and exit requirements for visiting the specific country you are going to. You may also contact the embassy or the consulate in the country that you are going to be traveling to. They will also be able to give you more information, if you wish to talk to somebody over the phone personally. Visa's generally expire after a certain period of time. There are single entry Visa's which allows you to enter the country one time. Once you leave the country, your Visa then expires. There's also a multiple entry Visa which allows someone to enter and exit the country a certain amount of times before the Visa is then canceled. You should also know what type of Visa you need to get. There are tourist Visa's and there are business Visa's. Someone with a tourist's Visa is typically not going to be allowed to do any type of work in that country. A Visa may be denied for a number of reasons, for instance, someone who may have an infectious disease, they may need to be treated before a Visa is approved for them to go to that country. Visa's may also be denied to people that they think might strain the system of the economy. For example, someone without enough money might be denied a Visa for fear that they may rely on public assistance while they are in that country. So that is what a Visa is and how to go about getting one."
